The First Edition of Iran's Steel Bridge Competition
The first edition of the National Steel Bridge Competition of Iran was held with the aim of developing practical civil engineering education and creating a platform to enhance skills in designing and constructing steel structures. In this edition, participating teams used theoretical knowledge to design and build lightweight, durable, and executable bridges, which were evaluated under real conditions. Islamic Azad University, Rudehen Branch ranked first with the fastest assembly time, followed by teams from
Islamic Azad University branches of Tabriz and Karaj; for the "
Stiffest Bridge
" indicator,
Khajeh Nasir Toosi University took first place, with
Semnan University and
Islamic Azad University, Parand Branch ranking second and third; also in the "
Most Efficient Bridge (Cs)
" indicator, the team from
Khajeh Nasir Toosi University obtained first place, with
Semnan University and
Islamic Azad University, Tabriz Branch in second and third places respectively.
The results of this edition reflected the teams' efforts to balance different design criteria including weight reduction, stiffness increase, improved construction speed, and enhanced structural efficiency. Despite the relatively simple evaluation structure compared to later editions, this competition was able to establish an effective framework for multi-criteria structural performance assessment.
Overall, this edition can be considered the starting point for forming a systematic approach to practical evaluation of steel structures at the student level; an approach that gradually evolved in subsequent editions by adding economic, architectural, and technical documentation indicators, reaching the current maturity of the competitions.

The Second Edition of Iran's Steel Bridge Competition
The second edition of the National Steel Bridge Competition of Iran was held with a focus on improving design quality, precision in structural analysis, and enhancement of the construction process, with participating teams joining the competition with greater preparation and experience.
In this edition, the evaluation criteria were defined with greater emphasis on the real performance of structures under loading conditions, and teams attempted to achieve more accurate results by simultaneously optimizing

load‑bearing capacity,
stability, and
construction quality. Attention to
execution details, especially in the
design and implementation of connections, played a significant role in the success of the teams.

Semnan University won first place in the "

" category, followed by
Islamic Azad University, Aligudarz Branch and
Yazd in the next ranks.

Most Economic Bridge
" category,
Islamic Azad University, Yazd Branch had the best performance, followed by
Tabriz Branch and
Marand Branch. Also, in the "
Most Efficient Bridge
" indicator,
Islamic Azad University, Tabriz Branch ranked first, and
Iran University of Science and Technology and
Qom University took the next positions.
From a scientific perspective, the bridges presented by
Iran University of Science and Technology and
Islamic Azad University, Damavand Branch were recognized as the best designs in terms of the

.
In the
Architecture
section,
Iran University of Science and Technology,
Islamic Azad University, Tabriz Branch, and
Qom University ranked first to third respectively.
The increased level of competition, diversity of evaluation indicators, and active participation from various universities highlighted the qualitative growth of this event and strengthened its position as one of the most important and influential competitions in the field of structural engineering education in the country.

The Third Edition of Iran's Steel Bridge Competition
The third edition of the National Steel Bridge Competition of Iran was held with the approach of fostering creativity in design and enhancing precision in structural analysis. The Fifth Edition of Iran's Steel Bridge Competition
The fifth edition of Iran's National Steel Bridge Competition was held with the aim of increasing design accuracy, improving construction quality, and achieving optimal performance. Teams endeavored to establish a suitable balance between weight, stiffness, cost, and efficiency of their structures; evaluations were conducted on indicators such as stiffness (displacement), efficiency (Cs), economy (Cc), combined efficiency and economy (Cc+Cs), calculation booklet, and visual architecture, indicating higher technical maturity of the teams and more precise attention to all aspects of design and execution.

In the " Efficiency (Cs) " indicator, Islamic Azad University, Aligudarz Branch achieved first place, and teams from Universities of Science and Culture, Qom, and Shahid Rajaee Teacher Training University respectively ranked next. In the " Economy (Cc) " category, Shahid Rajaee Teacher Training University demonstrated superior performance, followed by Islamic Azad University, Aligudarz Branch, Qom University, and Science and Culture.
The variety of evaluation indicators, close competition among teams, and presentation of precise and engineered designs made this edition one of the most complete and professional rounds of the competitions, playing an important role in raising the scientific and practical level of the participants. In the final summary and combined indicator " Efficiency and Economy (Cc+Cs) ", Islamic Azad University, Aligudarz Branch was introduced as the top team of this edition, and the teams from Universities of Science and Culture, Qom, and Shahid Rajaee Teacher Training University respectively placed thereafter.
The results of this edition demonstrate the movement of the competitions toward more precise and multi-criteria evaluations, paying simultaneous attention to the technical, economic, and executive aspects.
