Steel, as a material with high strength, durability, and ductility, has long played a major role in the formation of human civilization. In Muslim societies as well, based on the descriptions in the Holy Quran, where steel is referred to as a material with very high strength and great benefits for people, it has always enjoyed a special status.

Today, despite the production of new materials and the advances made in this field, steel still maintains its position in various industries due to its high safety, ease of application, and other positive characteristics. The per capita steel consumption in each country is considered an indicator of its level of development. Iran, as a developing country with a specific population pyramid and a growing need for housing, is facing a continuous increase in steel consumption. Steel consumption in the construction and industrial sectors in our country has reached about eight million tons per year, and this growing trend requires the presence of institutions that undertake the following actions:

1- Developing modern methods and enhancing technical knowledge in the field of steel structures
2- Managing, organizing, and defining research strategies in accordance with the country’s needs
3- Revising and developing relevant codes and standards
4- Addressing the challenges of the engineering community and keeping graduates who have been away from academia for years up to date in all areas of design, supervision, and execution
5- Integrating practical and execution-related topics into university curricula and strengthening the link between academia and industry
6- Providing complementary training at various levels, such as workers, foremen, technicians, middle-management roles, and senior specialists

In this regard, through the efforts of the distinguished academic members of the Society, on 03/11/1383 (January 23, 2005), an official scientific-research license for the Journal of Steel and Structures was issued by the Scientific Journals Commission of the Islamic Republic of Iran under the auspices of the Iranian Society of Steel Structures, license No. 95/2910/3.

We hereby invite all engineers and researchers to support us in continuing this path by submitting their scientific and research articles to the journal.
